LME asks opinions of market players on ban of Russian metals

MOSCOW, Oct 7 (PRIME) -- The London Metal Exchange has asked for the market players to provide opinion on a ban of supplies of Russian metals, the exchange said in a statement late on Thursday, when the E.U. decided to ban imports of semi-finished metals products from Russia.

The LME said that the E.U. had imposed sectorial sanctions on Russia, but made no large-scale actions to prevent Russian metals from being widely used. The exchange wants the market to provide opinions on the matter, including plans to approve or reject Russian metals in the future.

The market will have until October 28 to choose whether it wants the situation to remain as is, or to reduce supplies of Russian metals to the exchange’s warehouses, or the exchange should suspend supplies of Russian metals completely.
